Mike is a fully qualified instructor for all activities on site. His expertise has been gained over 25 years, working with the armed forces and in adventure centres around the world. Mike comments -

‘I am inspired endlessly by the young people who participate in our “Glenborrodale Experience’ – I have seen how they grow personally in so many ways, after one short week at the Centre. Helping young people develop their self confidence and their self believe to  take on new challenges – far out of their normal comfort zones is key to their experience with us. Everyone feels part of a one team when they are at the Centre and that the long journey is well worth the effort . I am always positive and try my best to make sure that a fantastic time is had by all’

Sequencing of activities is essential to any adventure challenge and is part of the ethos at the Centre. The entire programme is constructed to create a supportive group environment that gradually increases participants self confidence and prepares them for the next stage.

Ensuring the experience is fun is also absolutely essential.  If activities are enjoyable, anxiety and concerns are minimised and people stay focused, energised and connected to each other.

“It was good. It was challenging but I set a goal and I did it. I loved it!” Michael, Young Advisors, aged 17

“The low ropes course tested people as a team. I think it was the best activity as a group and required the most strategy…’ Anon, aged 16
